Intensive Fishing in Aragon

The intensive fishing zones or ZPC are those that each autonomous community determines to carry out the practice of fishing continuously throughout the year. In it, the two fishing regimes can coexist perfectly: catch and release or “extraction” with death.

En Aragon, there are some very good stretches of intensive fishing, yes, submitting them to the regulations that require that the gear used be respected, as well as the regime and the respective sizes and number of pieces. Let's review some of these areas that the entire Autonomous Community of Aragon has, for intensive fishing in its various bodies of water.

Intensive fishing areas in Aragon

Something to limit is that, although they are considered intensive fishing areas, the regime is “catch and release” unless otherwise specified.

Huesca

  • For the Aragón river, the Canfranc-Estación reservoir
  • In the Gallego river there are several intensive fishing areas, among which the following stand out:
    • Lazuna Reservoir
    • La Sarra Reservoir
    • La Peña Reservoir
  • Ésera River, where you can do free fishing in:
    • Linsoles Reservoir
    • Paso Nuevo Reservoir
  • Flume river. For this river, the ZPCs correspond to the following reservoirs:
    • Cienfuens
    • Saint Mary of Belsue
    • Montearagon

Teruel

  • Turia River, specifically the section that goes from kilometer 287, 8 of the N-330, to Peña del Cid.

Zaragoza

  • Jalon river. Specifically from the mouth of the Piedra River to the point of mouth of the Perejiles River.
  • Huecha River. This time the free zone is that of the La Pareidera del Prado and Prado reservoir

What can be fished in the intensive fishing areas in Aragon?

In these areas declared as intensive fishing, the regulations mainly cover trout as the main species and, in fact, all the rivers and some of the reservoirs are declared trout waters, suitable for fishing, even out of season.

However, in the reservoirs where other species live, fishing is possible throughout the year and the catch and release regime must be reviewed for other pieces, such as carp, black back and even sirulo itself.

Baits and other gear authorized for catch and release

Let's point the tallow that can be used for this “catch and release” regimen in Aragon and thus comply with current regulations regarding them, especially if the waters are declared trout:

  • The use of natural baits or live fish is prohibited.
  • Artificial sol baits can have a single hook, but without a barb or barb at the end.
  • Fishing with spoons, artificial fish and artificial flies or mosquitoes, whether dry or drowned, is allowed.
  • The use of floating buoys is allowed.

Let us also remember that there are other prohibitions and regulations to take into account at the time of fishing, for example:

  • Pots or nets are not allowed for fishing fish.
  • Although the use of landing nets is authorized, this is to minimize the handling of the fish to return to the water.
  • Likewise, the use of harpoons is not allowed.
  • For the use of boats, even those of a personal nature such as the duck, it is necessary to have the proper navigation and flotation permit.
