Fishing Reservoirs in Castilla-La Mancha

The fishing areas in Castilla la Mancha are wide and varied. Rivers, lagoons, reservoirs and more are always ready for the best fishing practice for athletes in the region and for those who visit the Autonomous Community with such enthusiasm.

In all the bodies of water there are multiple fishing possibilities and the activity is very pleasant since all the scenarios present their own riches, limitations and challenges. Let's remember that many of the swamps or reservoirs are bathed by the main rivers of the region: Sorbe, Guadiana, Júcar, Tajo, Tajuña.

One of the great disadvantages throughout the Community of Castilla-La Mancha is the constant variations of its water masses, especially in the summer, making it difficult to find good-sized specimens, compared to other places on the peninsula.

However, some of the reservoirs or swamps in the sector do offer good fishing at certain times of the year. Let's review some of these in the provinces of La Mancha and the fish that we can find in them:

Albacete

  • Camarillas Reservoir. Prey types abound: carp, barbel, pike and black bass.
  • Cenajo Reservoir. In this reservoir, the fishing possibilities include three specimens: carpus, barbel and black bass.
  • Talave Reservoir. We have the largest presence of fishable species with trout, carp and barbel.

Ciudad Real

  • Cabezuela or Mari Sánchez Reservoir. In its waters we find the constant black bass, the inevitable carp, barbel and some populations of pike.
  • Castilseras Reservoir. This somewhat isolated reservoir is home to carp, catfish and barbel.
  • La Fresneda Reservoir. One of the best known; In its waters we find the already frequent black bass, carp and barbel.

Cuenca

  • Alarcon reservoir. A very good reservoir for fishing. The species that will undoubtedly bite our rods will be carp, barbel, pike-perch and, of course, black bass.
  • Toba Reservoir. Its main focus of attention is trout, followed by carp, catfish and black bass.
  • Molino de Chincha Reservoir. This beautiful but somewhat hidden reservoir is ideal for fishing for trout, black bass, pike and the inevitable common carp.

Guadalajara

  • Almoguera reservoir. In its waters with steep banks you can get: carp, barbel and black bass.
  • Buendia Reservoir. One of the best known and appreciated. Here the fishing is varied and it is possible to get: pike perch, pike, bleak, black bass, carp and some barbels.
  • Palmaces Reservoir. An ideal setting for sport fishermen, this is because they are easily obtained: bleaks, both common and royal carp, sun perch, black bass and some barbels.

Toledo

  • Cazalegas Reservoir. With its easy access to the shore, the fisherman can find carp, barbel and black bass.
  • Guajaraz Reservoir. In its crystal clear waters we find common and royal carp, crucian carp, barbel and the inevitable bass.
  • Navalcam Reservoir. Another excellent place for sport fishing, since here you can also find various species such as royal and common carp, barbel, black bass, cachuelo, catfish and even pike.
